MARIANIST L.I.F.E. COMMUNITY (MLC)

Marianist LIFE (Living In Faith Experience) is a national faith-formation program rooted in Catholic and Marianist tradition and targeted to the needs of high school students. LIFE offers students an opportunity for fellowship and fun in a caring, upbeat context.

Student roles are vital to MLC at Chaminade:
  • 25 student leaders help to facilitate and coordinate meetings. (Often “side” or “organizational” meetings are held to help plan larger meetings.)
  • Student leaders invite “guests” (other students) to meetings.
Students meet every Friday at 7:10 for a mass or prayer service in the Immaculate Conception Chapel.
  • We gather for breakfast after each meeting.
  • Average meetings are about 50-70 students.
Students meet once a month on Saturdays (typically) for a meeting that goes from 3PM-5PM then attendance at 5PM Mass at Our Lady of Pillar Catholic Church.

In the Marianist tradition of hospitality after mass, dinner is provided and student leaders serve guests. The meal is taken seriously. Which is to say, these are catered, or prepared, meals rather than just ordering pizza.

Topics vary:
  • Family
  • Spirituality
  • Community
  • Respect for women
Average meetings are about 50-70 students.

Eligibility Requirements:
Student in grades 9-12 (member)

Middle School MLC is open to grades 6-8.

In order to be a “leader” in our MLC program students must attend the Pacific LIFE Week in Occidental CA. or the Central LIFE Week in Dayton OH.

Moderator: Mr. Dan Stout

The Chaminade Peace & Justice Club promotes the themes of Catholic Social Teaching (Life and Dignity of the Human Person, Call to Family, Community, and Participation, Rights and Responsibilities, Option for the Poor and Vulnerable, The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers, Solidarity & Care for God's Creation) within the Chaminade and Global community.
Our ultimate goal is to influence and inform the community about the Church’s teaching regarding peace & justice.

We meet during Esto Vir every other week or so. We participate in workshops presented by the Archdiocesan Peace & Justice Commission. We plan Courageous Conversations that take place during Esto Vir for the entire Chaminade community.
