Retreat Programs

Campus Ministry’s Retreat Program is part of the overall faith formation of every student at Chaminade. From sixth grade through senior year, each student attends one retreat each year.

The underlying principle behind the retreat program is the concept of relational ministry. We grow and develop in our own faith as we relate with others: sharing our faith with them and hearing from them about their faith. Beginning his freshman year, a Chaminade student may serve as a retreat leader; each retreat at Chaminade involves students as leaders in some capacity.

Most retreats at Chaminade are all held at off-campus sites in the St. Louis area. The middle school and freshman retreats are all the length of a school day and students are assigned by either Mentor Group or House. Freshmen participate in two on-campus days: a Freshman Formation day early in the first semester and a Retreat Day in the Spring. Sophomores may choose to attend a one-night overnight version or a school-day version of their retreat. Juniors choose between either a one-night overnight retreat or the two-night Emmaus retreat. Seniors have the option of attending the senior Kairos retreat, which runs from Tuesday afternoon through Friday evening, or participating in a 2 night, 3 day Wilderness Retreat.

The Sixth Grade, Eighth Grade, Emmaus, The Way, Kairos, and Wilderness retreats are all facilitated solely by Chaminade faculty members and student leaders. Seventh Grade, and Sophomore Retreats are facilitated in conjunction with The REAP Team of St. Louis. Freshmen days are coordinated by the Campus Ministry Team and involve nationally known speakers.
